For those wanting to find information on some of Prokofiev's artistic collaborators or who are interested in Russian culture generally, there's the Slavic-Eurasian Studies Web. This potentially useful site contains several links, all helpfully categorised: for example the 'Resources for Russian Studies' link takes you to a page with a choice of 'News', 'Politics', 'Foreign Affairs', 'Law', etc. The most useful links to our readers are 'History', 'Literature', 'Music', 'Art', 'Theater', and of course 'Cinema'. Click on the last mentioned, and you'll be presented with links to sites with information on such film directors Prokofiev worked with as Abram Room, Mikhail Romm and of course Sergey Eisenstein; but not, oddly enough, Alexander Faintsimmer, with whom Prokofiev worked on two films - Kotovsky (1942) and, most famously, Lieutenant Kizhe (1933). Unfortunately the site has not been updated since April last year, and so several of the links don't work. Try bothering the webmaster of this one, and perhaps they'll update accordingly. |
