A prime site for information is The Prokofiev Page, run by the ever-courteous and helpful Sugi Sorensen. Most useful is the site's virtually comprehensive listing of all Prokofiev's music, with details provided of individual works' movements and their scoring, all hyperlinked to, again, virtually comprehensive listings of their various recordings on CD. Most of these recordings are reviewed, and the site is very efficient at listing new or forthcoming recordings. Also of interest among its many features are several photographs of the composer and his circle (all donated by the Prokofiev family); several exclusive interviews with people associated with Prokofiev and his music (including with his eldest son, Sviatoslav; the pianist Frederic Chiu; and with Prokofiev biographer Daniel Jaffé); a useful listing of books, with book jackets for easy identification, about or relevant to Prokofiev, many of them with a succinct summary and assessment; and an increasingly popular message board, though this could do with some more postings - so go along and liven things up! |
